I began my career in mascot/character costume performance in 1975 when I became a "pageant helper" (character) at Disneyland. I instantly took a liking to performing in costume. While at Disneyland I worked in all aspects of character tasks - meet and greet (walking the park), parades, photo set-ups, stage shows, movie debuts, TV appearances, publicity photos and out of park events (including performances and parades). While working at Disneyland, I was also involved with a number of committees including proposals for re-designing the costumes, developing new guidelines in hiring, and creating an employee training program. I left Disneyland in 1981.
To this day, I continue my character career by doing freelance gigs for clients including PBS, Nickelodeon, Jim Henson, Sony, Kellogg's, the ASPCA and more. I travel from Northern California to the border to Las Vegas for appearances. I also own a number of private suits (some built by me) that I use for performing at various conventions and special events. Below are some examples of the wide variety of characters I have portrayed.
